It was a meeting of minds moment - a constellation of stars that aligned. Style influences and shared history brought together Lucie de la Falaise, the British / French lifestyle and design consultant, and Parisian / Scottish fashion studio LA FETICHE, until one day, ephemeral conversations became a permanent collection.
The parallels between the lives of Lucie and LA FETICHE are uncanny. The former is the daughter of the interior designer Alexis de La Falaise, and the niece of Loulou de la Falaise, muse of Yves Saint Laurent in the 1970s, although she also has Scottish heritage.
The latter, founded by Glasgow-based April Crichton and Parisian Orely Forestier, is known for combining British eccentricity with French chic. Both Lucie and LA FETICHE launched their design studios in 2017. And yet it wasn’t until 2023 that discussions sparked a creative endeavour. A mini collection was born, entitled LA FETICHE x Lucie de la Falaise, to be unveiled in October 2024. The process started when Lucie visited the La Fetiche showroom, “went through shapes with April and Orely and fell in love.” “It was like being with friends and trying things on and saying this colour or style suits you really well,” she says.
Months of conversing about fabrics and shapes eventually led to the creation of six pieces. Each represents a combination of LA FETICHE’s quintessential aesthetic with a new inflection added by Lucie.

“The inspiration for this collection was to create a practical but unique wardrobe, with the graphic identity codes of LA FETICHE,” explains Orely. “It is a colourful collection adaptable to several types of women, with the possibility of playing with the pieces via layering or combinations.” April adds: “In the making of the collection, the realisation of joining forces with many creative and like-minded women felt exciting and empowering. “There was also a great sense of pride in uniting such a diverse range of Scottish makers, shining a light on their unique skills and passion for their craft.”

All six pieces tell a story of irreverence, playfulness and heritage. A broad-collared Aran knit sweater connects Lucie to her childhood growing up on a sheep farm. Bright stripes in a jumper weave through a thread of April and Orely’s former lives working together at Sonia Rykiel. A reversible Mackintosh raincoat can be flipped depending on mood and style. Todd & Duncan, a traditional manufacturer based in Kinross, supplied lambswool yarn woven by a small team of local knitters into a limited series of pullovers inspired by rugby sweaters. The idea for a shawl started when Lucie remembered a blanket gifted to her in celebration of the birth of her daughter. “The shawl is similar - you can create memories in it,” she says. “You can take it on a picnic or pull it over you in the evening. It becomes part of the family. “I am very pleased with my choices for the collection,” Lucie adds. “They make you feel good because of the colours, the sweaters are slightly oversized and the trousers are very flattering. They bring a little bit of joy.”

To shoot the pieces, enter another iconic Scottish / French alliance. Renowned Parisian photographer Sonia Sieff selected the Glencoe mountain range to feature Lucie dressed in knitwear, tweed, outerwear and denim. Sonia’s relationship with LA FETICHE started many years previously. After working with Orely at Sonia Rykiel in Paris, a long-term friendship was sparked. “The idea to unite artists bridging France and the UK had been brewing for some time,” Sonia explains. “Picture this: a symphony of talent spanning from the cobblestone streets of Paris to the windswept shores of Scotland, much like the journey of LA FETICHE between Orely and April.” “Lucie emerged as the perfect embodiment of our bridge. Her radiant spirit casts a luminous glow against the rugged, dramatic landscapes of Scotland.” In each photograph, mist-shrouded mountains serve as a timely reminder of nature’s raw power. The presence of Lucie is also a reflection of power - and a testament to women fulfilling their artistic destiny. “I like happy clashes: Lucie’s smile against the low, heavy skies of Glencoe,” says Sonia. “What a tapestry of a LA FETICHE collection this is - vibrant, chic and delightfully twisted.” Lucie, who has split her life between the Welsh hills, London, New York and her West Sussex studio, agrees. “The collection matches my lifestyle with practical, reversible things with pockets, colours and cheerfulness,” she says.

For LA FETICHE, Lucie’s involvement felt like a natural extension of the brand. “Lucie is very much into tactility and craftsmanship,” explains Orely. “The way Lucie puts the collection together is very LA FETICHE: natural, comfortable and beautiful.” All roads lead back to common ground: four women with a shared philosophy combining local with global, familiar with abstract and a methodical approach with instinct. The result is a timeless heirloom capsule to be handed down the generations.
